My sister-in-law ended up being admitted to the hospital for an emergency c-section a week before her scheduled c-section due to high blood pressure. Her husband's father had passed away suddenly two days prior, and he flew to be with his family, thinking she would be okay for two days. Unfortunately, this is when doctors wanted to take the baby early. Her husband was able to catch a flight home as soon as possible, but within an hour of his arrival, despite my sister's blood pressure coming down and the baby's heart rate being stable, the doctor was pressing to begin. We asked that they please wait just a little longer to allow her husband to arrive in the OR. Tara really spearheaded our cause to the surgeon during this difficult time and empowered my sister to make an informed choice that the baby would be healthy and OK for one extra hour while they waited for Dad. Tara waited at the front entrance with the dressing gown and was able to bring him straight back to the OR, where a healthy baby was delivered 15 minutes later. Because of her persistence and care, Dad was able to be present at the birth of his son despite his father passing away just two days prior.
