Through all the screaming, crying, and wanting to give up, this nurse never left my side.
I came in late at night to have baby #3 and was trying for a natural birth this time. After receiving an epidural for my first two births, I was not prepared for the amount of pain I was about to be in. We chatted with this nurse before the real pain began, and found out she was sent home for the night, but was called back in because I came in. Her attitude about having to be back at work was non-existent. She was so positive, and ready to help however she could. After getting my water broken, things progressed very quickly, and I found myself in the worst pain I have ever felt in my entire life. Through all the screaming, crying, and wanting to give up, this nurse never left my side. She was reminding me to breathe constantly so my baby and I were getting oxygen and was consistently giving me advice through all the pain.

Finally, the baby was born, and the pain was over, but she still stuck by my side and was so helpful post-birth. She brought me tons of things that I didn't even think to ask for, and since we had the baby in the middle of the night, we had not had dinner yet. She knew I was probably hungry and thirsty, so she brought not only me a soda and snacks but also brought my husband some and offered him other options as well. She wasn't only looking out for me but also for my baby and my husband.

We didn't get a chance to thank her on our way out when we finally moved out of Labor and Delivery, but if anyone deserves this award, it's this nurse. She was absolutely phenomenal, has such an interesting story, and is the most caring nurse. I hope everyone experiences a nurse like her in Labor and Delivery.
