Jason went to this patient's home on Saturday to personally follow up. He demonstrated our “own it” service standard by assisting the patient with his wound care needs.
It is an honor to nominate this nurse for this award. Since Jason has taken the lead role in his department, he continuously goes above and beyond to advocate for and serve his patients. Jason regularly follows up with patients after they go home to be sure all their needs are met.
I wanted to share a particular instance demonstrating how Jason continuously advocates and serves his patients with love. Jason always sees the bigger picture regarding his patient's recovery. Because of this, he recognized the increased risk the timing of a patient's Friday discharge might have on his recovery. This patient had a very extensive wound on his foot with a wound vac, which was having difficulty getting a seal. This nurse went to this patient's home on Saturday to personally follow up. He demonstrated our “own it” service standard by assisting the patient with his wound care needs. The patient was scheduled to be seen for outpatient services the following Friday. This nurse voiced their concerns to the doctor and the department manager about how this might be too long of a gap. Because of this, the nurses advocated that the patient be directed to return to the hospital for further treatment.
This nurse's concern and love for his patient have dramatically improved his patient's outlook on his care at THH. This patient has continued his road to recovery and is improving weekly. This patient also encourages other patients to keep going with their recovery journeys. His success is directly connected to how Jason carries out the mission of extending the healing ministry of Christ.
There are so many other patients for whom this nurse has gone above and beyond, but this case was a beautiful example of Jason serving others the way we would want to serve those we love. Thank you, Jason, for allowing such great work to happen through your hands.
