She was so knowledgeable about the new machine and walked us step by step on how to set it up. She was so helpful to us. We don't know what we would have done without her!
My husband is a veteran of the Vietnam War. He has many health issues, one being high blood pressure. We received a blood pressure monitor machine from the Hampton VA Home Telehealth Department. We have used it for years, and lately, the readings on it have been registering high and low. Nurse Smalls would call us to make sure my husband was all right. She wanted my husband to take his blood pressure while she was on the phone with us. She decided that our machine needed an update. She ordered a new, updated blood pressure machine with a wireless cuff for my husband. When the new machine arrived, she told us to call her, and she would walk us through it to set it up. In fact, she called us to see if we received the new machine. (We had just received it the day before). She asked us if this was a good time to talk, which she always does when she calls. That was so considerate of her. We are senior citizens and we needed help to set the new one up. She told us to unplug the old machine and cuff and put it in another room so as not to confuse it with the new machine. We did as she said. She was so knowledgeable about the new machine and walked us step by step on how to set it up. She was so helpful to us. We don't know what we would have done without her! The Hampton VA is so blessed to have her. She is absolutely wonderful, friendly and kind. She understood that we are senior citizens, and she made us feel so comfortable and confident that we could set up the new machine with her help. We want her to get recognized as a great nurse. She is always willing to help!
