My sister was admitted to St. Joe Hospital. Everyone at the hospital was great, but nurse Allison Farley was a godsend. My sister was in the SICU. Never have I seen anyone treat my sister with such respect and care as nurse Allison. I watched Allison feed my sister ice chips and caringly make sure she was as comfortable as she could be, from getting her warm blankets to ensuring she wasn’t all tangled up in cords and lines. We watched as Allison would lean down and put her ear to my sister and decipher what she was saying in a whisper. Allison knew the hurt our family was feeling, so she made sure we were feeling okay and checked if we needed anything.
When my sister passed away, Allison was working elsewhere on the unit, and in 5 minutes, she was there offering her condolences and asking if there was anything we needed or anything she could do for us. There was no one that we needed more at that moment than her.
I will remember nurse Allison forever, and I hope she knows how much we appreciate her. St. Joe's Hospital is blessed to have Allison. I know she will be taking care of many more patients, and like we did, they will also realize what a godsend they have.
