Leticia was at my side. She held my hand through the tears when they told me that things were not headed in a good direction and we needed to deliver as soon as possible.
I can’t say enough good things about the staff on the second floor and in the nursery. One person in particular, Leticia Enoch, stood out among everyone. The first night that Leticia was my nurse was the first night that our condition started to decline. N began having frequent decelerations and Leticia was at my side within seconds with each episode, and they had begun to occur almost hourly. My husband, C, and I were anxious, scared, and uncertain about what would happen. Leticia made sure to reassure us and keep us updated with our plan of care.
When the morning came and the care team came in for rounds, Leticia was at my side. She held my hand through the tears when they told me that things were not headed in a good direction and we needed to deliver as soon as possible. She stayed past her shift that morning to be at my side. The night after I delivered, I had to stay on a magnesium drip for 24 hours. It was absolutely miserable. I was anxious, sleep-deprived, scared, and upset that I couldn’t be with N, and I couldn’t have been an easy patient to deal with. She was at my side every single hour, checking on me. She kept my mind occupied and tried to keep me focused on other topics to ease my anxiety. She made sure to help me with as much as she could to not only take care of me, but so that C could get some extra sleep as well.
I feel like she took the time to connect with me and provide exceptional care that I will be forever grateful for. She even took the time to crochet a blanket for my son that we will forever cherish. She deserves all kinds of recognition that we can give her, including a DAISY Award.
