Mackenzie was my RN during the day and always entered the room with a smile and a greeting. She also took care of my mom, who stayed with me for the duration of my stay. She always announced which medicines she was giving me and would explain the drug to me when needed. Her best attribute was her unwavering compassion for both me and my mother. She never rushed out of the room and took all the time needed to talk and answer questions I had. You felt like your big sister was taking care of you – always made sure we were warm enough, comfortable, and fed. She is literally the model all nurses should base themselves on. I’ve worked at BJH for 13 years and felt so proud that Mackenzie represented BJC nursing in such a positive light. She knows patients are here because they are ill, so she makes sure her patients are treated with kindness, compassion, and understanding. BJC is lucky to have Mackenzie!
