I was overwhelmed, scared, and very worried. Carrie talked to me, answered my questions and was so very kind.
My husband and I went for his 1st chemotherapy treatment earlier this year. Carrie was his nurse, and she explained everything that was going to happen during the treatment. She took time to go over the medication he would be receiving and also the nausea medication to take at home, and when and how to take it. She wrote down the instructions for us and gave us helpful ideas to help manage whatever arose, whom to call, and the phone number. When my husband left the area to use the restroom, she came to me and said "I think someone needs a hug". And I did. I was overwhelmed, scared, and very worried. Carrie talked to me, answered my questions and was so very kind. She helped me understand this awful diagnosis and gave me hope. And most importantly, calmed my fears. She is THE BEST nurse there. My husband had several different people. But none compared to Carrie. I came to all my husband's appointments. PLEASE. Tell Carrie how very thankful we are that she was my husband's nurse. I got the chance to speak to her today and was greeted like a friend. Yes, she remembered me even though the treatments are over. And again, she was encouraging. She is a blessing! All of your nurses should take lessons from Carrie. She understands what the patients & family members are going through and gives so much support to us and lets us know she cares. That is priceless.
