We shook hands, and I immediately felt his empathy and understanding. Without his compassion, advocacy, and attention to detail, the outcome could have been different.
It has been a few weeks since I left Emory, and now that I am feeling better, I wanted to take the opportunity to single out Danny. During my stay, I had an episode where I became unresponsive due to my body’s reaction to pain medications. Nurses understand that everyone has their own set of values and life experiences to draw upon, and they try to see the situation from the patient’s perspective so that they can best meet the patient’s needs. Thanks to Danny, who quickly called for the rapid response team and administered Narcan, I survived. Danny was so calm and stayed with me until I recovered from the awful episode. He quickly transferred me to CVICU, and the next day, he intentionally came to see me. His words of affirmation and his positive attitude reassured me that I would be well. He hugged my wife and made sure that we both knew that even though he was not my nurse for the day, he was around in case I needed his assistance. We shook hands, and I immediately felt his empathy and understanding. Without his compassion, advocacy, and attention to detail, the outcome could have been different. His exceptional care and genuine concern made such a positive impact on my life and on my family. Danny made concerted efforts to really understand my concerns, and without judgment, he cared for me. I am forever grateful for Danny, and I can clearly see that he loves nursing and prides himself in serving others.

Danny is one of the hardest-working coworkers I have ever worked with. You could pretty much ask him to do anything, and without hesitation, he will get it done with a smile. It is a joy to see him on the days I work. Just knowing he is here, I know my day will be a great day. He just cares, not just for us a teammate, but he put himself in the patient's shoes. He is a team player, works fluidly with patients, families, and the entire staff. His collaborative approach makes him adapt quickly to changing situations. He is respectful and kind, and he has a charisma that lights up the unit. He always sees the bright side of situations and encourages and inspires his patients to get better. Danny remains positive and focused even in the worst of situations. He anticipates the needs of his patients and advocates for them as if they were his family.

Danny exhibits mercy and integrity every day at ESJH. He honors nursing vision and culture. He is compassionate and caring. He promotes healing and well-being even when the outcome of the patient may not be good. He builds healthy relationships with everyone that comes through 2S. He engages with members of EVS, PT, OT, and other departments. His worth and ethics are impeccable. Since he works with a lot of women, I have seen him give up his chairs so many times. He is personal, kind, and treats everyone equally. He respects everyone’s views and makes us all feel comfortable and safe. I know that I can trust him.
