The first professional experience with Cathy was in February of 2015 with my first daughter. Cathy was helpful in navigating the new experience of motherhood and helping me understand the signs to look for when it comes to post-partum and other new familiarities. She really helped me to feel comfortable and worry less about appearances and other self-conscious things that come with giving birth.

The second time I was able to experience Cathy's expertise was with my second daughter. My waters had broken at work, and she was quick and diligent to get things hooked up and moving in the right direction. She knew just what to do and always seemed to be so calm, cool, and collected.

The final and last time I was lucky enough to get her as a nurse was with my third daughter. I was set for an induction, and it worked out perfectly to have Cathy as a nurse, she was working the day I was being induced. I had a nurse in the morning, and Cathy worked the night shift right after, so I asked If she could please be with me when she came on her shift. She was able to move things around and make those changes. This specific pregnancy was a scary time for me as my blood pressures were running high, I have gestational diabetes, and my baby's heartbeat would also rise at times. Cathy took her expertise and ran with it. She knew positions that were best to keep me comfortable, keep baby safe and knew just what to say to calm me and help me through. She didn't get off her feet at all during the whole 12-hour shift. She brought water, ice packs, blankets ... you name it, she would get it and didn't hesitate. I apologized several times for all the work she was needing to do and she assured me each time that it was her job and her pleasure.

This DAISY Award is far overdue as I have started writing it several times and then just never finished. Just recently, she was a nurse to some of my dear friends, and they lost their baby. Cathy made a huge difference in their care and lives as well, and they noticed, too. I knew I couldn't wait any longer to acknowledge her outstanding leadership and passion for her job, it was long overdue. Cathy is so worthy of this DAISY and so many more, "Thank you Friend!"
