Christine is “authentically present” to the patient, as Jean Watson envisions a nurse should be.
All the way around, Christine Poon is a phenomenal nurse and has made a meaningful difference in my care as a patient for more than one shift and more than one admission. One may be able to find a nurse as good as her but not better. Every time she was my nurse, her care, compassion, and clinical skills were top-notch.

When she is your nurse, you can be sure that the best will be done for you and things will go as smoothly as possible. She is always so kind, gentle, patient, and thorough from head to toe. When she explains something, it is always clear and concise, and she is sure to make sure you understand. When she needs to follow up on something for you, you can be sure she will not forget, and she will get back to you in a timely manner. If something changes or is delayed, she is sure to communicate it so the patient is not left wondering.

Whether she is doing an assessment, some procedure, or wound care, she is always sure to communicate clearly first what will be done and then very gently and efficiently complete the task at hand. In her care, you always have her complete, undivided attention, even when you know the unit is very busy simply by hearing the constant call bells going off and hearing and seeing the activity when you are walking around the unit. You never feel as if she is rushing through to get to the next patient or task. She is “authentically present” to the patient, as Jean Watson envisions a nurse should be. She is the model nurse who would make nursing legends like Florence Nightingale and Jean Watson proud. As a fellow nurse, I am inspired to strive continually to be like her. Thank you, Christine!
