I have the privilege of working with Stacey Schreiber in Same-Day Surgery. Last month she had a surgical patient who was abnormally bleeding vaginally post-op. She notified the doctor, who advised this to be normal and to be discharged anyway. Stacey did not feel this was the right decision for this particular patient. After spending a couple of hours with the patient, calling doctors, and monitoring vitals, Stacey got the patient to return to the PACU. The patient wound up coding, revived, admitted, and then transferred to Morristown. Stacey’s attention to detail and strong patient advocacy saved this patient’s life, who, a few days later, was cleared to go home.
