She is excited about her career in nursing, her research, and her students most of all.
Dr. Hoch is one of the most brilliant people I have ever had the pleasure to learn from. All you have to do is ask her and she will sit with you one on one and explain a concept until you understand it, no matter how many times she repeats herself. She is willing to adapt the way she teaches to fit your needs, and she will try every approach to help you learn something (and I mean really learn it, not just enough to pass the test). She is excited about her career in nursing, her research, and her students most of all.
I took her critical care class in the Fall of 2023, and every day she taught, she was willing to share clinical stories about patients with the conditions we’re learning to help us relate them to real life. She does an excellent job of putting things into perspective in the field of nursing, and forces us to see people instead of just words on a power point. As students, we can tell when a professor is passionate about their work and about teaching it, and no one has the same enthusiasm that Dr. Hoch does.
Dr. Hoch has helped me numerous times in office hours and if her office hours don’t work for my schedule, she is more than willing to meet up with students on her own time because she wants us to understand how vitally important each piece of information is. She embodies everything an excellent educator is and the school of nursing is lucky to have her.
