Zahra’s dedication, empathy, and tireless efforts to provide personalized care have made a profound impaction on this patient’s experience. Her actions reflect not only on her professional excellence but also, her deep compassion and commitment to making a difference in her patients’ lives.
I am writing to nominate Zahra, one of our outstanding nurses in the trauma unit, for the DAISY Award. Zahra’s compassionate and dedicated care for a long-term trauma patient who is both mute and deaf truly exemplifies the spirit of this award.
Throughout the more than 100 days the patient has been hospitalized, Zahra has provided exceptional care, going above and beyond to ensure their comfort and well-being. Recognizing the challenges of communication, Zahra asked the patient to teach her a few words in sign language. This thoughtful gesture has brought a smile to the patient's face every time Zahra uses the hand gesture she learned.
Zahra’s efforts to lift the patient’s spirits don’t stop there. She has taken the patient for showers, ensuring they feel refreshed and cared for. Understanding the emotional toll of being confined to the hospital for an extended period, Zahra also took the patient to the healing garden, allowing them to experience the outside world and a change of scenery.
In a particularly touching act of kindness, Zahra noticed the patient feeling uncomfortable with her overgrown acrylic nails. Zahra brought supplies from home and found the time to remove the artificial nails, significantly improving the patient’s comfort and well-being.
Zahra’s dedication, empathy, and tireless efforts to provide personalized care have made a profound impaction on this patient’s experience. Her actions reflect not only on her professional excellence but also, her deep compassion and commitment to making a difference in her patients’ lives.
I wholeheartedly believe that Zahra deserves the DAISY Award for her exceptional care and the positive impact she has made on this patient’s journey.
Zahra’s compassion, empathy, and relentless pursuit of providing the best care serve as a powerful reminder of the profound impact a dedicated nurse can have on the lives of those they serve.
Note: This is Zahra's 2nd DAISY Award!
