Basma was genuinely caring, covering me when it got a bit cold, bringing me food, and checking on me while also allowing me to sleep.
I was admitted for urgent surgery. The entire day was incredibly uncomfortable, and it was honestly the worst pain I have ever experienced. After the procedure, I was taken to my room. Despite being in considerable pain, the care, compassion, and overall expertise provided by my nurse were extraordinary.
As a healthcare worker who has worked in many hospitals across the world, I have never encountered someone as diligent as Basma. She performed all my vital checks exactly as they were taught, cannulated me, and administered an intramuscular injection with such skill that I felt no pain at all. Basma was genuinely caring, covering me when it got a bit cold, bringing me food, and checking on me while also allowing me to sleep.
Now, you might think, "Well, that's her job." However, Basma didn't know who I was or what I did for a living. I train nurses, paramedics, and doctors. Therefore, I can confidently say that Basma did everything not just "because", but she genuinely wanted to perform at her best. At no point did she make me feel like a bothersome patient, nor did she seek compliments or try to impress me. She was simply a wholesome, caring, competent, and clinically effective nurse. I was truly impressed.
