Margaret is the epitome of having a patient-first mindset and is a perfect representative for Stability Healthcare. She was involved in a difficult patient situation, with the patient reporting impending doom and had a history of multiple organ failure in the ICU. She was advocating for the patient whom she was going to code and said that they needed to be proactive. She recommended a few steps, but the resident physician blew her off and said that the patient was being dramatic. Toward the end of the shift, the patient got worse and began to code, and finally, the physician agreed they needed an RRT and BiPap. The RRT was slow to respond because he was familiar with past interactions with the patient and thought she was being dramatic as well. The patient was eventually stabilized towards the end of her shift but was not doing well, and the code could have been prevented. Margaret reported the incident to the shift manager because it did not seem that they were taking both the patient and her advice seriously despite her 18 years of experience. The following couple of days, an investigation was conducted into the incident that will hopefully lead to better patient care from those involved due to Margaret's willingness to speak up when she sees something she views as wrong, as well as her passion for the nursing profession.
