I was diagnosed with a rare chronic autoimmune disorder in January. I knew it would be months before I would be able to see a neurologist who could handle my care. Jeri is a Nurse Practitioner whom I see at my primary care clinic. Although it was a disorder with which she was largely unfamiliar with in treatment, she researched treatments (those that were within her area of expertise) as well as the disorder itself. Of course, immunology fell out of her wheelhouse (that’s for neurology), but she was determined to make me as symptom-free as possible during the 7-month wait for neurology. Thanks to her attentiveness, she did get me symptom-free for about a month and a half until I could finally see a neurologist. For seven months she followed up with me, periodically called to check in on me, gave me a direct number to call her with concerns and always made me feel like I mattered during my visits and calls with her. She listened with great concern and empathy, which is all someone wants from a provider during times of uncertainty. She is an amazing and caring Nurse Practitioner who went out of her way to do her utmost for me, and for that, I’d like to thank her. She is absolutely deserving of the DAISY Award.
