She never hesitated, seemed flustered, and always stayed calm, which gave us confidence that we were in the best hands.
Our daughter was born prematurely at 34 weeks and spent three weeks in the NICU. During this time, Gabrielle Davis stood out as one of the most confident and assured nurses we had the privilege of meeting. Her extensive knowledge and experience were evident in every interaction, and she always had the information to back up her answers. Gab’s responses were direct but delivered in a way we could easily understand, reassuring us during an overwhelming time.

My partner relentlessly asked Gab question after question, and she handled his worried, persistent behavior with patience, grace, and unwavering confidence. Regardless of the many questions, Gab always answered thoughtfully and informedly. She never hesitated, seemed flustered, and always stayed calm, which gave us confidence that we were in the best hands.

Gab wasn’t just a nurse but a fierce advocate for our daughter. She worked tirelessly to ensure that everything needed for our daughter’s care was done promptly and effectively. One specific moment stands out in my mind: when our daughter’s arm and hand began to swell due to the cannula infiltrating (causing extravasation). My partner was extremely concerned, and Gab immediately noticed the issue, acting swiftly to call the doctors for an assessment and ensure the cannula was removed without delay. The way she advocated for our daughter in that moment, speaking with such authority and confidence to the doctors, reassured us that she was always watching over our little girl with the utmost care.

When our daughter transitioned from the NICU into the nursery, Gab remained one of the most involved and compassionate nurses in her care. Talking with Gab each day made those long, difficult days much easier. My partner and I were eager to bring our daughter home, and Gab became one of our biggest allies. She helped us understand what steps needed to be taken to increase our chances for an earlier discharge, coaching us on the right questions to ask the doctors and what we could do as parents to support our daughter’s progress.

Gab was also the nurse who supported me through the incredibly challenging process of starting to breastfeed. It was a drawn-out journey filled with setbacks, but Gab was there every step of the way, offering encouragement and reassurance. She never let me give up, always reminding me that we were almost there and our daughter would soon get the hang of it. Her patience, support, and constant encouragement gave me the confidence to keep trying, and I am forever grateful for her guidance during that time.

Gab made an enormous impact on our experience in the NICU, not only with her knowledge and skill but with her kindness and advocacy. Her ability to care for our daughter and us as parents made all the difference. We will always be grateful for her compassion, expertise, and unwavering support. Gab’s dedication, confidence, and kindness left a lasting impression on our family, and we feel incredibly fortunate to have had her by our side during this journey. She is someone we will miss dearly.
