Thankfully, through this whole process, Kaitlin advocated for us and tried to ease the stress. She truly is a wonderful nurse! She handled everything with such care, compassion, and professionalism.
Kaitlyn is AMAZING!!! I don't say this lightly. On Friday, we were told my husband had a mass on his brain and were sent to the ER. With a history of family and friends who have passed from brain tumors, this news put us in such a panic. We came to the ER, and the staff was nice. He was admitted to the neuro floor Friday night/ early Sat morning. At this time, we still did not have answers and were scared. Luckily, we had Kaitlyn! She helped us through the waiting process.
As the hours, time, and days went by, we were still left in limbo, not truly knowing what was going on. We came in for a mass on the brain, and then talks of an angiogram were in place, but we still didn't know about the tumor. My husband was very scared and stressed and became more anxious waiting, feeling like the docs just weren't listening/hearing him or even communicating together. Thankfully, through this whole process, Kaitlyn advocated for us and tried to ease the stress. She truly is a wonderful nurse! She handled everything with such care, compassion, and professionalism. She was thorough. She listened. She understood our concerns. For a long period of time, she was the only person that my husband felt cared for and was trying to help. My husband believes that it is only because of Kaitlyn and her persistence and care that after days of waiting in fear, we were finally visited by both neuros and finally got answers about the tumor. It is because of Kaitlyn that he now has answers. Because of her, someone from neurosurgery (she's great, btw) came and spoke with us and explained so much as to what was going on. Kaitlyn pushed to have neuro communicate with us, and then they communicated with us to give us an idea of what the plan was.
Kaitlyn was kind and thoughtful. She would check on my husband often, not just for typical job duties. We feel that it is because of her that we made it through this whole process. Finding out you have a tumor or your loved one does is very scary. And waiting without answers because docs say they need to go back and review scans and will come back and not hearing anything for days is scary. I understand that they get busy. But it just felt like without such a wonderful soul like Kaitlyn being there for us, we would not have progressed with answers or put us at ease. She worked hard to advocate for us and connect all of the pieces. Kaitlyn is fantastic at her job and goes above and beyond for her patients. The world needs more people like Kaitlyn. Words can't even begin to express how lucky we were that Kaitlyn was my husband's nurse. Kaitlyn is an amazing person! My husband and I wanted to make sure to tell you how much we appreciated her and how fantastic she is.
