Jenna came to be our midwife at the end of my labour with my second child. She cared for my husband, my son, and me with kindness and thoughtfulness and made a huge impact during a difficult time in our lives. I had a very difficult labour and birth with my first and had a specific birth plan I was determined to follow for my second. Jenna let me know that she understood what I had been through and wanted to support me fully in my choices. Jenna has a beautiful, calming presence, and I instantly felt I was in safe and competent hands. When my labour took a turn and I ended up in an emergency c-section with a placental abruption. Jenna kept me informed every step of the way. Jenna calmly and diligently coordinated the care for my son while he was resuscitated. It was an incredibly emotional time, and we were terrified. As soon as my son was stable, Jenna reassured my husband while I was being operated on. When I was stable, she advocated for me to have skin-to-skin in theatre and even assisted me in feeding my son in recovery. Jenna helped make what would have been a very traumatising experience manageable by delivering such compassionate and personal care. Jenna is an incredible advocate and asset to LUH.
