Alyssa was unbelievably kind and compassionate to us all. She was extremely informative and professional throughout my Mom's stay.
Our 93-year-old Mom was admitted from the Boston Medical Center ER to the Step Down Unit on 7 East. She presented with worsening abdominal pain and was diagnosed with a perforated ulcer. Immediate surgical intervention, hydration and IV antibiotics were recommended. This would have been an extensive surgery, requiring a prolonged post-operative ICU course, if she survived. Due to her frail state, we decided to have our Mom transition to Hospice Care, ensuring her continued comfort, to include adequate pain control.

Alyssa was my Mom's nurse for less than 24 hours, but left my siblings and I with such a positive impression, that we wanted to acknowledge her contribution to our Mom's care. Alyssa was unbelievably kind and compassionate to us all. She was extremely informative and professional throughout my Mom's stay. My Mom's IV needed to be replaced, so that she could continue to receive her pain medication. The IV team completed their task, right at the change of shift. Alyssa's day was essentially completed, but she stayed after her shift change to get the IV pump set up, so my Mom would be able to receive her pain medication and remain comfortable, for what turned out to be her last night, before she passed away. Alyssa is an extraordinary person and a superb nurse. She treated my Mom with the utmost dignity and respect, and I will be forever grateful for her extraordinary care.
