As a clinical nurse specialist, Julia is actively involved in improving patient outcomes and nursing care and practice. She has accomplished this by creating and disseminating educational materials and leading initiatives.
Julia is a hard worker and always willing to help those who are in need. By having an open-door policy, she is readily accessible to her unit’s staff and members from other departments. She also aids her staff at the bedside and provides patient education. Every day, Julia carries herself in a calm and professional manner.

As a clinical nurse specialist, Julia is actively involved in improving patient outcomes and nursing care and practice. She has accomplished this by creating and disseminating educational materials and leading initiatives. Julia utilizes her research skills to conduct literature reviews which informs her practice and role models this in her daily nursing practice. She also develops evidence-based educational material, improves nursing care, and promotes patient safety. For example, Julia is a vital resource for addressing glycemic protocol and diabetes management-related questions/education. She recently invited a diabetes presenter to the GPU Nursing Practice Council who provided an in-service about insulin pen and teaching resources which was greatly appreciated by the council representatives. She was an active participant in the Mobility Matters pilot with exceptional improvements on her unit to improve patients’ mobility. She has developed an education module about foley placement in patients receiving gender-affirming care to raise awareness and inform nurses about providing gender-sensitive care. On her unit, she has implemented fall prevention strategies to improve patient safety and improve nursing awareness about common causes of falls. Julia actively engages in highlighting Henry Ford Hospital's image within the nursing profession, such as by attending the Magnet conference.

Working alongside Julia, I feel that she is passionate about her job, an advocate for her peers and quality patient care, and a team player. She is not afraid to ask questions, especially in situations where she is not the most informed or feels nervous. This shows that Julia is actively taking part in self-improvement and upholds herself to always being self-aware about her abilities and constantly taking part in improving herself. This is why I believe that Julia is an inspiration, an excellent addition to the Henry Ford Hospital nursing team, and deserves this DAISY recognition.
