Of all the nurses I've encountered, Ogechi's kindness makes her a shining star that I'll carry with me.
Ogechi helped me through my worst nights at the facility. My spine surgery incision became infected, increasing my pain. I had to undergo tons of bloodwork each day due to the infection. She was so patient and caring. I also had an adverse reaction to a medication which left me in tears and terribly not myself.
One night, Ogechi drew blood blood and changed my wound care. I played praise music to calm myself, and she started singing the songs softly to me. She told me I was going to be okay. I will never forget that night. I was scared, in terrible pain, and emotionally a mess from the adverse reaction to a medication. Her presence and sweet disposition helped me through the worst nights of my spine surgery recovery. She checked on me nonstop, even when it wasn't necessary. She kept me informed about when I'd get my next pain meds and antibiotics. She called my husband and calmed him about the scary situation of my wound being infected. It was Ogechi and my husband who realized one of the medications was having adverse effects on me. Ogechi is amazing.
In my 13+ days at the facility, Ogechi has been my favorite nurse. She gives superior care to her patients. I wish I could have Ogechi as my nurse 24/7 while staying here. On my worst nights, she told me I would be okay and would place her hand on my shoulder to calm me in my pain. She has gone way above and beyond to care for my physical wound in recovery from spine surgery, but also my mental and emotional wounds from this process. I've been hospitalized for 3 weeks. The first week was at Baylor Scott & White, where I had my spine surgery. The past two have been at Encompass. Of all the nurses I've encountered, Ogechi's kindness makes her a shining star that I'll carry with me. I couldn't have made it through everything in the capacity that I have without her. I'm very thankful for Ogechi and her dedication to her profession. Please honor her!
