William was my grandfather’s nurse many times throughout his stay in the ICU. Despite being sedated, William always made sure to treat him with care and compassion. He would talk with him and explain to him what he was doing, and always encouraged him to continue healing. William had spent countless times fighting for his proper care. He would explain everything to us to help us understand what was going on. He treated us as a family with care and compassion. My grandfather ultimately transitioned onto comfort care, and William treated him as if he were his own family. He had food and water delivered to us as a family, and constantly checked in on how we and he were all doing. We prayed that William would be with him on his final day, and he was. He had said his own goodbye to my grandfather, and when he took his last breath, he came and hugged all of us like we were all family. He is truly an incredible nurse.
