Dr. Tadeo also involves staff in decision-making, motivating them to share his vision and think creatively. This inclusive approach has led to increased nurse engagement, improved patient outcomes, and higher nurse retention rates.
I have had the pleasure of working alongside Dr. Tadeo for the past 10 years and have witnessed his remarkable growth into an extraordinary leader and role model. His passion, drive, and dedication have not only elevated our department but also significantly increased revenue for the organization.

When Dr. Tadeo began overseeing the Case Management department, it was a time of uncertainty, with the department lacking clear direction and leadership. At that point, the focus was on discharging patients rather than providing care for those needing services. Since then, Dr. Tadeo has transformed the department. Our current workflow is now being implemented at other DHS facilities, which is a testament to its success.

Dr. Tadeo has also cultivated a trusting environment by truly listening to staff. He makes it a point to check in regularly with staff, addressing their concerns and working tirelessly to resolve any issues. His open communication has been vital, ensuring that staff are always kept informed of updates that may impact the department. A great example of his leadership was during the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. With so many uncertainties, he developed weekly huddles to keep staff up to date. During this stressful time, there were concerns about possible redeployment. Dr. Tadeo met with staff weekly, answered their questions, and, when he didn’t have all the answers, followed up with Hospital Administration to provide clarity. Even though half of the department was ultimately redeployed, Dr. Tadeo continued to support those affected, responding to emails, making follow-up calls, and reporting back their concerns.

Dr. Tadeo also involves staff in decision-making, motivating them to share his vision and think creatively. This inclusive approach has led to increased nurse engagement, improved patient outcomes, and higher nurse retention rates. By empowering staff to help make decisions that impact themselves, their colleagues, and their patients, he has fostered a sense of ownership and accountability. Moreover, he has taught us to view decisions not just from the perspective of our own department but with the organization as a whole in mind.

As a staunch advocate for professional development, Dr. Tadeo encourages staff to pursue further education and seek out promotional opportunities. He has always been a strong supporter of career growth and has inspired many of us to push beyond our limits.

In closing, I strongly believe that Dr. Tadeo is a deserving recipient of the DAISY Nurse Leader Award. His leadership has empowered me to achieve my goals, and he continues to inspire me to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more. Under his guidance, I have learned not only about policies and procedures, but also what it means to be a leader. Anyone can be a boss, but it takes a true leader to inspire, motivate, and build trust with their team. Dr. Tadeo is that leader—he fights for his staff, makes us feel heard, and ensures that we are appreciated.
