But Lucas's care and concern did not stop there. Even on days when my husband was not his patient, Lucas stopped in to see how he was doing.
My husband was admitted for heart surgery. Lucas was the nurse in his room after the surgery. For the week we were there, Lucas was a professional, doing things to make my husband comfortable. But the real story begins when my husband was re-admitted to A2 a week after his release.
My husband contracted a virulent form of Guillan-Barre Syndrome and was completely paralyzed in the same room for 4 weeks. Every time Lucas was assigned to him, we could tell he was concerned about my husband as a human being. He consoled, encouraged, and was gentle in his ministrations to my husband, who needed special help and care. But Lucas's care and concern did not stop there. Even on days when my husband was not his patient, Lucas stopped in to see how he was doing. He kept encouraging him even when my husband was down. Lucas's care did not end there. He kept asking how I was, if I got some sleep, and if I went for lunch! He even asked my daughters if I was okay. After 4 weeks on A2, I must say that the staff was so good! However, Lucas stood out as a nurse who exemplifies the professionalism that should make Munson proud. He is a winner a credit to the hospital, and a gift to anyone in his care. Thank you, Lucas!
