Ultimately, she makes any environment better and makes each person feel included and special. When she is not working, I sometimes question what Sue would do in this situation because of her experience and kindness.
It is my pleasure to nominate Sue Packer, RN, RNAC certified, for the DAISY Award. I have worked side by side with Sue for over 23 years professionally and I can't think of a more worthy candidate for this award. Her personality is one of kindness and compassion for those we care for, those we work with, and her community. Everything comes from the heart. She makes me want to do more and increase my skills as a professional at any age (as she is completing her master's in nursing currently).
She is always looking out for our residents and staff. Some examples of this are assisting with feeding, changing shifts/covering weekends and nights to make sure coverage exists. She goes above and beyond battling insurance companies, so our residents do not receive bills for services. She has made the difference with the facility getting paid/residents not receiving a bill multiple times this year, with insurance companies always trying to find technical documentation insufficiencies. Sue is an unselfish good Samaritan. An example of this kindness: Sue purchased a week's supply of meals for a resident's family that was in need, without any recognition, and if anything, an avoidance of recognition for that act of kindness.

When she is not working, I sometimes question what Sue would do in this situation because of her experience and kindness. There are three women in my life that I admire, one being my mom, my PT coworker of 33+ years, and Sue. I am better because of her and so are the residents we care for. Lastly, her commitment to the next generation of healthcare providers, from CNA classes to high college degrees, she offers mentorship and brings hope to the nursing profession.
