She is one of the first people to walk into any room to assist, answer a call bell, or help with patient care, no matter who the patient belongs to. She provides thoughtful and thorough care for all of her patients.
Joann Seaman consistently arrives early and stays late for every shift to ensure that all of her patient’s needs are met. More recently, she has been met with some disparaging remarks from other providers within our system. Joanne remains positive, compassionate, and a true team player despite those remarks. One such example of that took place this past weekend. The resident team received a sick RRT from 2S. The resident team was busy, so Joanne stepped in, despite this not being her patient, and helped in every way that she could. She assisted in providing direction for line placement, placing orders, and intubation for this critical patient. At 8 pm, she was still in the room assisting despite her shift ending at 7 pm. Again, this was not a patient on her team; she was just helpful. This type of story is typical of Joanne. She is one of the first people to walk into any room to assist, answer a call bell, or help with patient care, no matter who the patient belongs to. She provides thoughtful and thorough care for all of her patients. She is a true example of teamwork and an asset to the blank unit.

***

Joanne goes above and beyond for every patient she meets. I know this as I worked alongside her in the blank CICU for many years. My young husband had a stroke, and this was devastating for us to handle. Joanne was there to assist us in any way possible, such as fighting for something others felt he didn't need. She saw something on his ECHO, and although Cardiology didn't think it was anything, she fought for a TEE. It was during that TEE that a PFO was discovered, and we were able to determine the why of the stroke. This eased both of our minds as this could now be fixed. My husband, who hates hospitals and doctors, was comforted knowing Joanne was looking over his care. Again, I am sure she does this for every patient, but having her on our side meant a lot to both of us. I can't thank her enough for her everyday humor in the CICU unit and her willingness to do anything for her patients and the nurses who work beside her.
