Rachel is continuously working to build a stronger professional working relationship with the team members.
Rachel has been a nurse for three years and has been successful in creating better cohesion within the department. Rachel has a strong professional working relationship with all the physicians and the team. The department works well as a team in critical situations to provide the best outcomes for our veterans. During times of crisis, Rachel is able to use leadership skills to assign team roles appropriately. Rachel is continuously working to build a stronger professional working relationship with the team members.
Rachel is highly deserving of the DAISY Award, but one event sets her apart. Yesterday, a veteran was scheduled for a procedure prior to another procedure. Rachel was looking up patient information prior to the procedure and noted that the patient was status post another procedure related to esophageal cancer. Rachel spoke with the team and the one procedure was cancelled. Rachel's actions following HRO values the veteran commitment to zero harm, duty to speak up, support a safety culture, and clear communications.
