This day I found myself with 3 emergent patients and 1 critical. It was a spontaneous pneumo, ischemic bowel that needed to be transferred out and a facial trauma that also needed to be transferred out, along with my critical patient. Emily was not a float but came in to assist in room X. The patient had numerous pumps and drips that were running and needed to be started. The doctor was kind enough to place a central line so that I could give all the meds necessary to save this patient's life as per the family's request. Emily came into my room with all the supplies and assisted with all that was necessary to start the arterial line while my student and I administered all the meds that had been ordered.

I am not a nurse who likes to bring patients up in a mess or with medications not given, and Emily and the doctor both gave me peace of mind with all the help I received from them that night. They also facilitated me being able to get all my transfer stuff over to the necessary EMS teams so that I could get my 2 ladies out and so that I could set up and assist my doctor with the spontaneous pneumo and the chest tube set up.

At the end of the night, I felt relieved I was able to provide good care to all 4 of my patients, but I couldn't have done it without Emily's help.
