Over the years, I’ve had several nurses assigned to me for cannulation and bedside care. Each nurse has their own techniques, traits, and personalities, but one of the best among them is this nurse.

One of the most remarkable moments in my 11 years as a patient was my first treatment experience. It was midnight, the unit had already closed, and there were no nurses or technicians available. Everyone had gone home. A nephrologist then called this nurse, an expert in these specific skills, who returned to the hospital to assist with my case, which was an emergency requiring immediate treatment. Without hesitation, she came back to MMC and performed the procedure. Thanks to her swift action, the treatment was successful, and I was incredibly grateful.

To this day, whenever she is assigned to me, she continues to provide excellent care. In fact, she is often the one called when there is a problem with cannulation. My arteries and veins are extremely sensitive, but this nurse is one of the few who can cannulate me without causing pain or difficulty.
