A patient asked to speak with the charge nurse, and as I went in there expecting a complaint, the patient told me to sit down and said, "This will take a while." She proceeded to tell me how good our staff is in general but singled out Richard to say how great he is. She mentioned that Richard went above and beyond for her in maintaining her comfort while waiting to hear back from the doctors. She says that Richard has been there for her through "some hard stuff" and has made her feel like he has her back. She has great trust and confidence in Richard as her nurse. The level at which Richard cares for this patient has impacted her so much that she felt compelled to tell somebody about it.

Not only that but Richard is frequently found answering call lights and taking care of the needs of other patients before we even know about it. I can think of many times when he has changed out a bag of IV fluids for me and others because it was almost empty. He is proactive in helping his coworkers and taking care of everyone's needs. Richard has been consistent with this throughout the last few months and he should be recognized for it. Keep up the great work, Richard! You work with excellence!

As a patient who was transferred from ICU to 8 South, I've experienced many nurses and doctors. Richard, from day 1, has always remained professional in a way that demonstrates his love for caring and helping humans. He has been beyond gentle when tending to not just my wounds but all other needs as well. He took his time to carefully devote his attention to detail. I've never experienced this type of caring from anyone but family. I can honestly say that he has set new limits to above and beyond. I appreciate Richard so much that I wish I could take him with me on my recovery journey.
