I had surgery, and Bernadette was my receiving nurse. From the moment I was transferred to her care, she was exceptional and very patient with me. She listened and did whatever it took to keep me comfortable. I had a rectovaginal fistula repaired and I was nervous and scared. I remember her saying, I won't be back until Saturday and you will probably be gone. I told her about the minimal stay for me was 3 days and I thanked her for all her care. She was happy, smiling, and very caring, never seemed bothered by me. I told her, no offense, but I won't be here. Little did I know I would be there 6 days, and Bernadette would be the one to accept me and discharge me home. She gave great care, and she listened to my concerns. I knew I was in great hands, and I can never thank her enough for talking with me, listening to me, and being so understanding. I am an RN who works in surgery, so I get it, and I think I was a good patient. Bernadette made me very comfortable. She is truly one of the BEST!!!! She deserves to be recognized. I am 6 months post-op, and I still think about how wonderful she was to me.
