Her genuine actions have left a lasting impression on us since the day we first met her.
My daughter has been hospitalized twice—first for pneumonia and then for an allergic reaction. As first-time parents, my husband and I were understandably anxious about our daughter’s condition. During our first stay, we were located in the left wing of the pediatric unit, where we had the privilege of being cared for by Nurse Audrey, whom we affectionately refer to as "Ate Nurse." We still remember her fondly because she always greeted us with the brightest smile and a warm hello. Her genuine kindness and deep concern for our daughter made us feel supported during a very difficult time.
On our second hospitalization, we were guided by a transporter to our new room in the right wing of pediatrics. To our surprise, Nurse Audrey recognized us immediately despite not being assigned to that wing. Nurse Audrey stepped in, even though she was about to leave for the day. She took the time to adjust my daughter’s dextrose while carrying her bag on her shoulder, demonstrating her commitment to patient care. Before departing, she bid us a warm goodbye, which spoke volumes about her dedication.
Her genuine actions have left a lasting impression on us since the day we first met her. The very next day, Nurse Audrey made an effort to engage with our daughter, even though she was just a few months old at the time.
I wholeheartedly hope you will consider Nurse Audrey for the DAISY Award. Her kindness and genuine actions are exemplary, and I wish for all nurses to emulate her compassionate approach to patient care.
