With her compassionate heart, she had a steak dinner delivered from the hospital kitchen to the anniversary couple.
I met this patient on our unit.  As I got to know him, he told me how sad he was that he missed his wife's 25th anniversary.  The patient told me that he was supposed to take his wife to dinner at their favorite restaurant the previous night. The patient was getting ready to go, but then he did not feel well.  His wife decided to bring him to the hospital since he has lymphoma and is dying. The patient knew that this was his last anniversary with his wife.

I called the restaurant to see if they could have a meal delivered, however the owner was out of the country and could not be reached.  The unit director heard about this, and with her compassionate heart, she had a steak dinner delivered from the hospital kitchen to the anniversary couple.

In Safety Huddle with Administration I bragged about the unit director, however the patient still wanted a meal from their special restaurant for their anniversary.  This was so important to him.  Victor said to me, "Order whatever they want; I will pay for it."  I worked with the patient's wife, but it turned out that the patient was going to rehabilitation that day with Hospice.  So I arranged with Victor to have the last anniversary dinner delivered to them at rehabilitation while working with the staff.  The couple was so happy that they sent pictures of their meal to me which I shared with Victor.

This whole meal and memory were thanks to Victor, and I gave him credit with the wife.  A lot of our oncology patients are dying, and we do what we can to assist with making memories.  However, this was a big-ticket item and very important to a dying man.  This was his last wish.  Thanks to Victor and Lisa, he got his wish.
