I would like to highlight the holistic nursing care provided by Mrs. Angela Roque-Zapata, RN. My mother came in confused. When I arrived Sunday at 0330, my mother was utilizing a camera and sitter. She was so fast and unsteady. It required both of us to manage her safety. Finally, I laid down when she laid down. I fell into a light sleep. I could hear Angela talking to my mom. She used a light tone. She talked to her with respect.

My mom had not been eating. Angela took her time and kindness to assist my mom in ordering breakfast and lunch; I had been trying to get my mom to drink Ensure prior to admission, but she would not. Angela used her miracle nursing powers and got her to eat and drink Ensure and water. My mom came in with a UTI. She was only drinking Sprite and Coke at home. Angela utilized the nursing process on my mom. I was so happy to open my eyes and see my mom drinking water. My mom ate two meals. She drank an Ensure. A nurse who is able to encourage my mom is remarkable.

My mom is stubborn and argumentative. I never heard Angela raise her voice to my mom. I wish I could see more nurses trained by her. I need some training from her on how to manage my mother’s care. I asked my mom, “Why did you eat for Angela?" She said, “I just like her."
