I was so glad that Karla took care of my mother on this day, and I feel that she contributed to her recovery and healing during this acute care stay.
Karla, RN was so attentive and never missed a beat. Karla would pick up on needs of my mother in our casual conversations, would attend to my mother’s needs as a patient and followed up to assure that the needs or requests were followed up on or completed. Karla was kind, attentive and really treated my mother with holistic care (focused on not only her health, but her mental wellness, skin integrity, and really listened when my mother talked about how she was feeling and how her medications were or were not affecting her on that particular day).
Karla conducted safe infection control practices and did not skip steps or rush through the very important safe practices. Karla focused on my mother’s nutrition and casually educated along the way (doing this in a way that was receptive to my mother’s cognitive status at the time, which was so appreciated). From the moment Karla would knock and walk in the room until she conducted hand hygiene leaving the room, Karla dotted her Quality/Safety ‘I’s and crossed her ‘T’s enough for me to notice and want to take the time to recognize her in her efforts. I was so glad that Karla took care of my mother on this day, and I feel that she contributed to her recovery and healing during this acute care stay.
From one nurse to another, thanks for caring for my mother as I would have cared for her myself and would want to be cared for if I were a patient in your hospital!
