My husband had 2 stress tests and 1 heart Cath at Advent Health in New Smyrna Beach before transferring to Halifax Health for a triple bypass surgery. At the age of 85, my husband was very nervous about the surgery, and I, his 72-year-old wife of 48 years, was just as terrified. Andrew explained all the Cath tests, operations, and how the heart works. He drew this on a whiteboard with full explanations that were easy to understand. My husband and I felt a lot easier about the surgery after Nurse Andrew explained everything. The night before the bypass surgery, my husband had 3 incidents. His heart stopped beating, and the blood flow to the brain rapidly stopped, and his body started to curl up. Andrew and his crew were there immediately and got my husband's heart beating again. Before going to surgery that morning, Andrew was right there checking on us and ready to help. After surgery, Andrew came to check on us and was able to get me to be calm and to understand the recovery process.
