Rosemary Russo, Nurse Educator in the Operating Room is the personification of professionalism and represents the foundation of MMC through her dedication and commitment to the organization. Rosemary exemplifies expertise, professionalism, compassion, and a strong sense of responsibility that impacts team members, patient care and creates an environment where compassionate care can thrive. Rosemary is well appreciated by leadership, peers, team members, surgeons, and anesthesiologists as a result of her vast knowledge base and commitment to the delivery of high quality, safe patient care.
Rosemary is not just a patient advocate; she is a team member advocate. Rosemary watches over the new team members and hires learners and fellows in the department to match the best preceptors and procedures. Rosemary works to enhance education whenever possible. Rosemary ensures team members are aware of their value and importance within the department while guiding them to grow and expand professionally.
A recent example of her commitment and going above & beyond, in addition to her responsibilities in the Operating Room department, Rosemary has recently partnered with the educators and leadership in the Labor & Delivery department in the hospital to support team members in that department to acquire skills and align with the best practices in the Operating Room. Rosemary has developed a rotation for team members on labor & delivery to rotate and be precepted in the circulating and scrub role in the department to ensure the delivery of high quality, safe effective care for C-section patients on the Labor and delivery unit.
