Madina's expertise, vigilance, and compassion reflect the highest standards of nursing practice.
Madina has been with the UMC WOCN team for 2 years now as a Per Diem Nurse. She has trained in the BCT, BCU, and WOCN for wounds and burns. Recently, Madina was working at another hospital wound clinic when she discovered a patient who had sustained a 3rd degree burn to her right buttocks 2 weeks prior. She had been in 2 hospitals, and the affected area had only gotten worse. As Madina is part of the WOCN team that helps treat burn patients at UMC, she realized that this was a significant burn that needed to be treated at UMC. She discussed it with the providers and co-workers and made arrangements for her to be seen in the Lions Burn Care Center. Upon arrival, the burn doctors felt that the patient needed to be admitted and would need to be surgically debrided to see the extent of her burns. Dr. M, the burn attending, was very grateful that the wound nurse at another wound clinic recognized the importance of getting the patient to the appropriate level of care. The patient was so grateful that Madina took it upon herself to help her to get the appropriate care. She is very glad to have had her as her nurse. She wanted to be sure she knew how grateful she was,

I am honored to nominate Madina Qadir, BCT RN, for recognition of her exceptional dedication and professionalism in patient care. Madina works at both the UMC Lions Burn Care Center and a wound clinic in the valley, demonstrating her passion for helping patients with complex wounds and burn injuries. One recent example of her commitment stands out. While working at the wound clinic, Madina identified a patient suffering from a deep burn injury that required more specialized treatment than what was available locally. Recognizing the severity of the situation, she advocated for the patient's transfer to UMC's Lions Burn Care Center, ensuring the patient received the advanced care and attention essential for recovery. This thoughtful intervention was instrumental in improving the patient's outcomes.

Madina's expertise, vigilance, and compassion reflect the highest standards of nursing practice. She not only provides outstanding care to her patients but also goes the extra mile to ensure they receive the best treatment available. Her ability to navigate between two clinical settings while maintaining the quality of care speaks to her versatility, professionalism, and dedication to patient well-being. We are truly grateful for Madina's tireless efforts, and we believe she embodies the spirit of this award. Her unwavering advocacy for patients, clinical excellence, and commitment to collaboration are an inspiration to her colleagues and community.

Thank you!
