Laura was nominated 5 times throughout the year by her patients. She is always getting compliments for being kind and compassionate. Patients always tell me that she explains their plans in a way they understand and will even call and update families when their loved ones can't be in the hospital. This is someone who embodies the vision and mission of Mercy Health and continues to put patients and families at the forefront of everything she does.
When we rolled out the bedside report, she embraced this change and even caught issues in real-time to address them quicker and faster. She started as a PCT on the floor and has grown so much in her nursing career, from being a preceptor and charge nurse to helping with role transition students. She is one of many who have helped build a positive culture on B3. She has joined the SOS committee and tries very hard to help me with audits and real-time education with the team. She is always stepping up to learn new skills and improve with nursing. She is a true role model to many.
When she is in charge, she remains calm, even in the midst of a storm. She supports and checks on her leader (me) as well. I have noticed that she has quite the nominations this year and wanted to emphasize why she is a DAISY Nurse, not only from many of her patients but with the compliments of her team and her leader.
Laura, I am very proud of you and appreciate all you do for our team. I look forward to continuing to watch you grow and support you in your nursing journey.
