In that moment, when everything felt so strange and I felt alone, I couldn't think, and I felt every emotion hit me all at once; Diana's voice and kindness helped me through one of the toughest times of my life.
I came to Newton Hospital to deliver my first baby via a scheduled C-Section. Needless to say, I was absolutely terrified. The mixture of all my emotions about my baby girl entering this world finally, the unknown about it all, and being scared of the surgery itself hit me all at once when I was walked into that operating room. I thought I had been strong the entire time, until that very moment when I looked around this white OR, filled with a team of doctors, and I just felt so incredibly scared. I started crying my eyes out. I couldn't control it. Once the tears started, they couldn't be stopped. Tears of joy, but mostly anxiety and the most afraid I had ever been in my entire life. Diana reached for my hands while the anesthesiologist gave me my spinal tap. Diana and the doctor let me cry while kindly and softly talking to me about my baby girl being here soon, and the procedure that was about to happen. Diana and the doctor helped me feel that everything was going to be OK with all their words of reassurance, distracting me with happy thoughts of picturing my girl in my arms so soon. In that moment, when everything felt so strange and I felt alone, I couldn't think, and I felt every emotion hit me all at once; Diana's voice and kindness helped me through one of the toughest times of my life. Thank you so much for being a part of our story. I will always be able to tell my daughter about how she was brought into this world and the people who were there to help her mommy make it happen. You've absolutely made a difference in our lives.
