Lisa is determined and strong and has a great ability to handle difficulties. The surgeons and other managers respect her because she gets things fixed and keeps our department so organized.
Lisa is an excellent leader and has supported our department of surgery, same day surgery, and Endo through a lot of difficult times this year. One particular issue was when we had problems with instruments. Our washer broke, the steam to the sterilizer wasn't right, and the process for sterilization wasn't working. Lisa got a lot of people involved in getting this fixed, and it took weeks to resolve all of it.
During this time, Lisa stayed late into the evening several times, helping wash and wrap instruments and prepare trays. She ran test sets through the sterilization process to see if things were running correctly. She came into the OR on weekends to ship out instrument trays that would need to be sterilized for cases on Monday. She also came in extra to receive the instrument sets that came back, sterilized, and ready for the next day's case.
When doctors yelled at Lisa, she stayed calm. When staff got freaked out and needed help, Lisa settled everything down and pulled in the experts to talk to the staff. She had someone come from Saint Joseph London to do training. She arranged for a vendor to come in to do in services, she consulted with infection control for advice. In the end, everything got better, even though it took time. Our process is so much better now, thank you Lisa.

After all of the problems were fixed, Lisa provided a catered lunch for all of the staff, and she really went above and beyond to make sure all of the employees were okay and knew what they were doing, that our patients were safe, and that the doctors were reassured about our processes. Lisa is a DAISY Nurse.
