Hannah from oncology was the ONLY nurse who took care of me during an emergency situation that resulted in a diagnosis of pancolitis during my cancer treatments. I am a young mother who was diagnosed less than 2 months postpartum with triple-negative breast cancer. After having a reaction and needing to be admitted, Hannah came to me in outpatient observation since no other nurses were trained in dealing a port. She went out of her way to take care of me during a very tough time while others dismissed me. Hannah’s professionalism and dedication ensured I didn’t end up with further complications so that I could get back on track for my chemo treatments. Hannah also asked my permission to bring another oncology trainee with her so she could teach her about my arm port and the proper way to access, draw blood and more. Her ability to teach others and provide both mental/physical care to me was incredible. We need more oncology nurses and professionals like Hannah! Hannah stood out to me and my family as we continued to navigate my breast cancer diagnosis and treatment. Thank you, Hannah, for going above & beyond!
