Natalie, thank you for being a wonderful human being and a phenomenal nurse.
In short, Natalie Tursam is an outstanding nurse, and this hospital must feel lucky to have her on board. As a physician, I work closely with nurses regularly. And, as a patient, which I've been more times than I'd like to admit the last few years, I'm equipped with two unique perspectives when it comes to evaluating nursing care. What makes Natalie stand out is her exemplary attitude, tenacious attention to detail, and an involuntary need to go above and beyond - skills that quite frankly cannot be taught but are bred from within. You mix that with her fund of knowledge, clinical experience, wisdom, kindness, and incredible bedside manner, and you get a gem of a nurse that others can aspire to emulate. My family and friends who came to visit are in the healthcare field, and they were all equally impressed by Natalie. I considered listing several specific examples where her excellence shone, but to be honest, naming those examples to highlight her prowess dilutes the underlying message. The examples are the fruit and do nothing to really elucidate the more important undercarriage of what makes her special. To the newer nurses out there who would like to someday be like Natalie, don't be afraid to ask questions. Use every moment as a learning opportunity. Embrace feedback as currency for change. And be deliberate about everything you do, down to the most mundane detail, because you can't hand shine a crystal without a perfectionist's eye and a heavy dose of elbow grease. Natalie, thank you for being a wonderful human being and a phenomenal nurse. And... you'll never understand how grateful I am and what a game changer it was (for mental health and wellness purposes) when you trusted me to take a shower with a non-rebreather. Thank you.
