My husband is a patient in the ICU. He was transferred down from 6 Sammons because of respiratory failure. We’ve had a lot of good nurses since we’ve been in the unit and some standard nurses. Today, however, my husband had Sarah. And let me just tell you, phenomenal care! She was on top of everything from the moment her shift started. She treated my husband as if he was her own family member. She and her nurse resident worked together, caring for my husband with respect, care, concern, knowledge, and professionalism. Watching this nurse guide her resident through the proper steps of anything he had questions about was refreshing to see. She is an amazingly well-rounded nurse who knows her stuff. She cares for her patients flawlessly and always makes sure their family members are at ease and taken care of, too. There wasn’t a question I asked that she could not answer. I was really struggling today and having one of my worst days since my husband has been in the unit. Both nurses took extra time, care, compassion, and concern to make sure that I was okay, too. There needs to be a whole lot more nurses like Sarah! It would surely make the medical world a better place for patients and their families.
