He would take the time to listen and show love as he would care for her. He would repeatedly joke with her during the entire shift about her birthday, which made her so happy.
My aunt, who is an 84-year-old diabetic, had fallen 5 times in a month. She is probably on her way to assisted living, and although we, the family, believe she is amazing, her condition has made her difficult and angry at times. Jake became her nurse, and wow, did this stay change her in ways we haven't seen in years. He would take the time to listen and show love as he would care for her. He would repeatedly joke with her during the entire shift about her birthday, which made her so happy. She never asked for certain nurses but would almost beg us to make sure he would be her nurse as long as she was here due to the unbelievable love and care he gave her. After bathing her with such modesty as she needed, he combed her hair and left her speechless. Several times, he also cleaned her glasses and wiped her mouth after she had eaten. He got her on a schedule of drinking water, that family could never do and now she not only drinks water but also sleeps in bed after only sleeping in her lift chair for many years, all because of his encouragement. A lot of the time, we live in a world that we forget how important people need to feel love, but Jake went above and beyond for her. So many positive encounters with him and his caring will follow her. A big thank you for all you did for her. We are forever grateful . . . You were made for this.
