Mary plays the role of our nurse, but oftentimes it feels like having a sister who walks through life with us.
My wife received a transplant. We had so many questions regarding life leading up to and after the transplant. Were these stupid questions or normal questions? We just didn’t know. In comes our Guardian Angel, Mary Rodich. Mary first met with us to go through some of the areas we should be aware of. Although the list seemed daunting, Mary regularly assured us that everything was going to be okay. I’m sure we asked so many stupid questions, but Mary always made us feel as if we were asking the right questions. Mary was there when we received news of the transplant to congratulate us and to assure us that everything was going to be okay. Mary was there after the transplant to continue to help us work through some of the situations we could be facing. Post transplant, we continue to count on Mary to help us through situations. Mary responds quickly and always reassures us that we’re on the right path. When we go to see our Doctors for follow ups, we look forward to seeing Mary just as much. I asked Mary one day how many other patients she had in her care. I was shocked that it was more than 50. How could someone know you so personally and still tend to the myriad of folks giving the same type of care. Oftentimes, my wife and I talk about how blessed we are to have Mary walk through this life with us. Mary is our google when we have transplant questions. Mary plays the role of our nurse, but oftentimes it feels like having a sister who walks through life with us. Life after transplant is a moving target, but it’s Mary who continues to keep us focused and is our biggest cheerleader. We love Mary and are so grateful to have her in our lives. I
