I was called by my family doctor, stating that my troponin test drawn earlier in the day had come back slightly elevated, and he was asking me to go to the ER for further evaluation. I was immediately brought back to the ER for testing and received exceptional care from everyone on the medical team. In the observation unit, again, I received awesome care from all the staff, but I wanted to highlight one individual who went above and beyond for my care. This was Cheryl, the RN responsible for my CTA exam. 

From the moment I first met her until I was thankfully discharged later that afternoon with a good health report, Cheryl was unbelievable! When she first introduced herself, she could tell I was a little nervous because we had not ruled out a heart attack, and I was about to be tested for a possible artery blockage in my heart. She took every moment to explain all aspects of the CTA exam. Not only did she explain how the test would work, but she even drew pictures and gave great detail on what I could expect and what the test would show. Even before the test, she continued to monitor me closely to ensure my body was completely ready for the exam.

Once it was time for the test, she continued to watch me closely and explain every detail. Once the test was done and I was returned to my observation room, Cheryl consistently checked on me and gave me updates as we waited for the results. Although I was only her patient, the sincere care and concern she gave me made me feel like a loved family member. Even though I had such a stressful situation to deal with, Cheryl took every worry and concern away from me. Her nursing skills and knowledge were exemplary and I was truly blessed to have her as my nurse. Many thanks and hugs to Cheryl from me!
