My father was back for his 3rd cardiac cath in 21 days. He was nervous and scared as his procedure would be a little different than the last two times (his heart was going to be supported by the Impella device). Melanie was amazing from the minute she walked into the room. She took the time to listen to him and answer all of his questions and concerns. She explained everything in detail but made it easy for my dad to understand. She was very thorough in her nursing admission, taking the time to ask all of the questions and ensure his medical history was completely updated even though he had just been a patient the week prior. She helped bring ease not only to my dad, but to the rest of the family as well. She was professional and kind and took the time to listen to all of my dad's stories and rants. My mother even commented that she was a wonderful nurse. I am certain that this was not a "one-time" thing for Melanie. I am confident that she provides all of her patients with this exceptional care. She really made us feel like my dad was her only patient and helped us feel at ease during the prepping and post-procedures. She is a true example of an Extraordinary Nurse.
